The Hanover Borough Police Department has a long and proud history of service to the Hanover community. Twenty-four hour protection is provided for our citizens using the latest in technology, equipment, and continuing education and training.

The Department is comprised of a healthy blend of long term officers, officers with less years of service, and two full time detectives. They are all highly trained professionals.

The latest in buzz words is "Community Policing," but that has always been the philosophy of the Hanover Borough Police Department. Many of the officers along with the detectives participate with the schools, scout groups and other community organizations in educating young people about the police and their role in helping children to be safe and drug free.

The Department cooperates with the School District in training Adult School Crossing Guards. This program along with the block parent program helps insure the safety of our children when walking to and from school.

The Police Department also trains volunteers who serve as Fire Police. This volunteer group is invaluable in all types of emergency situations. They are also utilized during many community activities.

For more information or questions call 717-637-5575.

Over the last several years the department has been implementing different community policing programs. Last year a trading card program was started and was well received by not only the kids but by the adults alike.

The bicycle unit consists of a sergeant and six bicycle officers on two mountain bikes.

The bikes are not out on a full time basis due to manpower restrictions, but you could find them on the streets at almost anytime of the day or night.
